Rosie and Carly

Carly and Rosie live in a beautiful village, just 40 minutes by train from Manchester. There are lovely cafes, shops and parks in the village. It has a great sense of community, with lots of local carnivals, fairs and events, especially in the summer months. There are lots of walks nearby to explore the English countryside, as their home is surrounded by hills, farms, canals and rivers. Their lovely, gentle sheepdog Marlowe is always ready to make friends and go on adventures!

The train station at the end of their road goes to Manchester: a fantastic Northern city with galleries, museums, events, nightlife, shopping and sightseeing opportunities. The train also goes to Buxton: a traditional spa town with restaurants, shopping, cafes, boutiques, parks, and markets selling locally crafted products. There is also a leisure centre nearby with a gym, swimming pool, and sports classes.

Carly has been a teacher for 10 years. She spent 5 years teaching English in China and 5 years teaching in English Primary schools, in the UK. Rosie has been a UK English secondary school teacher for 4 years. They both spent a summer in India, training teachers, which is where they met. They both also have a lot of experience in looking after children, as they used to be foster parents.

They believe learning should be fun, engaging and tailored to students’ personal interests and ability. They love taking students out on cultural visits to all sorts of places: Lyme Park, the Trafford Centre, Chatsworth House, Manchester Art Gallery, Manchester Football Museum, the Palace Theatre and the Pavilion Gardens in Buxton. A stay with Carly and Rosie will be a great way to learn and a fantastic memory for students to treasure forever.
